Here are some good places to learn about how to stay safe on the Web. Also, many of these sites have parts for adults that would be great to show your parents.
The cartoon character Doug makes learning about safe surfing fun on Disney's Safe Surfing with Doug site! "Doug's Interactive Story" is a great way to see how Doug and friends make smart choices when online. And there are extra features including printable pages explaining things like emoticons :) and tips for safe surfing.
PBS Kids Go! will get your ready to navigate the Web safely. Take the "Rules of the Road" test to earn an official PBS Kids Web license!
Kid-friendly search engines:
Many of the search engines that are popular with adults have special ones just for kids. Just remember, many of these search engines may have ads or chat rooms.
Yahoo! Kids is Yahoo!'s popular search engine just for kids! Although it's a great search engine, many of the sites Yahoo! Kids links to have ads so remember to be careful.
Ask Kids is for young Web users, but it does contain ads, both on the site, and in the pages to which it links.
KOL - Kids Online helps you find cool sites on the Internet that have been handpicked by AOL. Like most other search engines, this site does have ads, and also links to pages with ads.
