Dear Eddie: I think the Web is an awesome place to learn. You can find stuff really fast on just about everything from space to insects. But what I think is best is when I can try things out or do something to see how it works. A cool example is Escape from Knab at www.escapefromknab.com. It's a place where you can get a job, fill out the employment stuff and learn how to save or invest your money. Because it's like a game, it's fun. Teachers can use it, so school can be more fun, too. Check it out.
Dear Amy: Do you know how I can spice up our classroom homepage? Thanks!-Alex, Louisville, KY
Dear Alex: Because you can do so much on a Web page, it's hard to decide what to do. Check out Bright Sites at http:// scrtec.org/ bright_sites/ characteristics/ to help decide what characteristics - such as cool graphics, a school calendar, parent resources or student work - are best for you. You can see what other kids have done from the examples. If you want to get into the latest in Web design, surf to Project Cool at www.devx.com/projectcool/developer. The ideas are fresh and the tutorials on how to do it are great. (These sites are no longer available.)
