Facing Changes in Life

When a kid throws a baseball, another kid hits it and sets off a series of events. The ball flies past the shortstop. It hits the ground and rolls between the left-fielder's legs, and so on. Every event leads to change, and success depends upon your attitude toward change. You can either fear it or face it.

One change that affected millions of people was Copernicus' theory that the sun, not the Earth, is the center of our solar system. His heliocentric theory led to an uproar in his day. However, as www.phys-astro.sonoma.edu/ people/ faculty/ tenn/ copernicanrevolution.html shows, the theory spawned a scientific revolution that influenced all areas of science thereafter.

The changes we face in life are rarely as wide-reaching as those faced in Copernicus' time. However, they do impact us as individuals by influencing the choices we make in life. Facing a new event or situation is challenging. If we learn to meet change head-on, then we can end each day feeling confident and prepared for an exciting tomorrow.
