Dear Amy: What's a mirror site? Is it OK to get stuff from them?-Larry, Tucson, AZ

Dear Larry: When you go to a really busy Web site to download a file or a plug-in, sometimes you are asked if you want to download it from a mirror site. A mirror site has exactly the same information or the same resources that are on the original Web site, but it is located on another server. Usually, the server with the mirror site is located in another country or far enough away to be in another time zone. That way, the original site and the mirror site won't be busy at the same time of day. So, if you want to download something faster, choose a mirror site that's located in a time zone that won't be busy.

Dear Amy: I want to make my own Web site, but I cannot find a place where I can make one for free.-Theresa, Evans, GA

Dear Theresa: The Worldkids Network at www.worldkids.net/ kotw/ ownpage.htm has a page that links you to three places to set up your Web site for free. Also, there are links to get you started on some basic HTML tutorials. It won't be long before you will want some graphics and clip art, too, so I think you should bookmark this site and return to it as you learn. Let me know when you get your page up on the Web. (This site is no longer available. You can build a free Web page at http://sites.google.com.)
